How to Get to Punkaharju
Punkaharju is a lakeside ridge and small community in South Savo best reached by regional train or car from Kuopio or Savonlinna. The VR regional trainstop makes rail travel practical and scenic; if arriving from abroad, connect through Helsinki and transfer by rail or coach.
Kuopio Airport (KUO): Kuopio is the nearest larger airport to Punkaharju (about 60-80 km, ~1-1.25 hours by car). From Kuopio you can rent a car or take a bus toward Savonlinna and get off at Punkaharju.
