How to Get to Preveza
Preveza is served directly by Preveza-Aktion Airport (PVK), a short drive from town, and by regional KTEL buses that connect the city to the rest of Epirus and to Athens. There is no direct national rail service, so road transport is the norm.
Preveza-Aktion Airport (PVK): This is the local airport serving Preveza and nearby Lefkada. The airport is about 6-10 km from Preveza town; taxis typically take 10-20 minutes and cost around €10-€20, while local shuttle buses and transfers run to Preveza and Lefkada (short ride, fares a few euros).
Kefalonia / Aktion alternatives: On some itineraries travellers use Aktion for domestic/charter flights or fly into Ioannina (IOA) or Aktion from seasonal routes, but these options usually require additional road transfers and are less convenient than PVK for Preveza.
Train: There is no direct national rail service to Preveza; the nearest mainline railheads are in Igoumenitsa/Ioannina area, and rail travel is not the usual way to reach Preveza.
Bus: KTEL Prevezas operates regular buses connecting Preveza with regional centres (Lefkada, Igoumenitsa, Ioannina) and long-distance routes to Athens. Local airport transfers from PVK typically take 15-20 minutes; intercity buses to Athens take about 5.5-7 hours with fares commonly in the €20-€35 range depending on service.
How to Get Around Preveza #
Preveza’s town center is pleasant to explore on foot, especially along the seafront. Local buses and taxis connect to nearby beaches, Lefkada (via the causeway) and the nearby Aktion/Preveza airport; taxis have modest starting fares and local buses cost a few euros for short trips. If you want to explore beaches and quieter spots, renting a car or scooter in season makes sense. Bike and scooter rentals are commonly available in summer.
