Ponte Milvio is a historic bridge crossing the Tiber in northern Rome that has existed in one form or another since antiquity and marks the site of the 312 CE Battle of the Milvian Bridge. The crossing still carries pedestrian and vehicular traffic and sits on a historic route into the city.

The modern bridge links the Flaminio neighbourhood with areas north of the river and is adjacent to streets that trace the ancient Via Flaminia. It is well known for its historic associations as well as more recent popular-culture habits that developed on its parapets.

The bridge’s strategic location made it a focal point in late Roman power struggles, most famously when Constantine defeated Maxentius in 312 CE and went on to become sole western emperor. The crossing has been rebuilt and repaired repeatedly from Roman times through the medieval and modern eras.

Ponte Milvio lies in Rome’s northern sector, across the Tiber from the urban centre and close to the riverbanks north of Piazza del Popolo, making it an accessible stop on riverfront and Flaminio-area walks.
