The Plains of Abraham are a historic plateau within Quebec City now preserved as part of an urban park often called Battlefields Park. The site is best known as the battlefield where British and French forces fought in 1759.

The area is an open landscaped park with walking paths, lawns and viewpoints over the Saint Lawrence River; interpretive panels and seasonal programming explain the site’s military and civic history. The park is used year-round for recreation and hosts cultural events in the warmer months.

The Plains were the location of the 1759 battle that led to British control of New France; the battlefield later became an urban public space during city development. The plains have been preserved and interpreted as part of Quebec’s national and municipal heritage.
