Piazzale Loreto is a large city square in the northeastern sector of Milan in the Lombardy region. It is formed by the junction of several major streets and functions both as a transport node and an urban meeting place.
The square is widely known for its role in Italy’s 20th-century history: on 29 April 1945 the bodies of Benito Mussolini and several other executed Fascists were publicly displayed there, an event that made the square a focal point of national attention.
