Phrae Province Travel Guide
Phrae is a northern province that shares its provincial border with Phayao, Nan, Uttaradit, Sukhothai and Lampang provinces. Medium in size, the province has grown in tourist popularity over recent years, owing largely to a rich history and culture that has been relatively unspoiled by tourist proliferation.
There are many interesting attractions to be found in the province, most notably Wat Luang temple, which is home to a Viharn and Chiang Saen style chedi, a shrine that houses significant holy Buddhist relics. Also of interest is the province’s Folklore Museum, a group of wooden structures which exhibit local ways of life.
An increase in the tourist popularity of the province has resulted in an improved and expanded tourist infrastructure. The provincial capital of Phrae has a growing number of guest houses and hotels, and the province receives an ever increasing number of tourist buses. Train links also connect the province’s larger towns with other towns and cities in the region.
