Gran Asunción & Central Lowlands
Winters are short but noticeable: June brings cool, dry air and comfortable daytime temperatures around 20-22°C, while nights often fall to about 10°C or lower on strong cold fronts. Occasional pampero cold spells from the south can make for brisk mornings; you’ll want a warm layer for pre-dawn river trips or early bus departures. Clear skies make city views fresh and good for photographing colonial architecture and weekend jaunts to nearby nature reserves.
Alto Paraná & Ciudad del Este Corridor
June brings dry, pleasantly cool weather with daytime highs generally in the upper teens to low 20s°C and notably cooler nights. The air is crisp and visibility is excellent - helpful for photography at viewpoints over the Paraná and for hiking in the last forest fragments. Services are quieter, making this a practical time for guided tours and crossing the bridge into Brazil with shorter lines.
Southern Paraná & Itapúa (Encarnación, Jesuit Missions)
June’s cool, dry weather offers blue skies and daytime highs in the upper teens to low 20s°C; nights are cool and can be chilly near the riverbanks. The lower tourist numbers make for quiet exploration of heritage sites and easy drives between towns like Encarnación and San Cosme y Damián. Bring warmer layers for early mornings and evenings, especially if taking boat trips at dawn.
Northern & Central Paraguayan Chaco (Filadelfia, Boquerón)
June is one of the coolest and driest months in the Chaco, with daytime highs often in the low 20s°C and nights that can be sharp and breezy. Frost is rare but cold snaps may make morning temperatures drop more than travelers expect. This is a preferred time for overland travel and for guided ecology trips into Defensores del Chaco National Park - roads are firm and mosquitoes are at a minimum.
Southwestern Chaco & Pantanal Fringe (Bahía Negra, Defensores del Chaco edge)
June is cool and dry with daytime temperatures often in the low 20s°C and crisp, clear nights - ideal for camping and stargazing away from development. With fewer mosquitoes and firm roads, this is one of the easiest months for self-drive or guided tours through the fringe areas. Pack warm layers for night and early morning safari departures.
