Gran Asunción & Central Lowlands

July stays in that cool, dry mode with lots of sun and low humidity; daytime highs commonly reach the low 20s°C and nights can be chilly, sometimes near single digits during rare cold surges. The central plains can see windier days; if you’re camping outside Asunción bring warm sleeping layers. Tourist crowds are thin, museums are quiet, and the Costanera’s golden light is excellent for evenings.

Alto Paraná & Ciudad del Este Corridor

July remains cool and dry; daytime temperatures are comfortable and nights can feel chilly near the rivers. Occasional cold-front breezes from the south make early mornings brisk, so a sweater or light coat is useful. Tourist activity is low compared with summer; the quieter pace and stable weather are good for museum visits and learning about the dam and local ecology.

Southern Paraná & Itapúa (Encarnación, Jesuit Missions)

July remains pleasantly cool and dry, with brilliant clear days and cold nights relative to summer; daytime highs stay in the low 20s°C and mornings may require a sweater. It’s a good window for photography at the ruins with little haze and few mosquitoes. Although swimming in the river is less common now, the pleasant air is ideal for long walks and cycling along the river promenade.

Northern & Central Paraguayan Chaco (Filadelfia, Boquerón)

July continues the dry, cool conditions with bright sun and low humidity, making it a comfortable month for long drives and outdoor activities. Landforms, termite mounds and wildlife are in their most visible state; mornings are chilly so bring warm clothes if you’ll be up before sunrise. Overlanding is easiest now, though services in remote settlements remain basic.

Southwestern Chaco & Pantanal Fringe (Bahía Negra, Defensores del Chaco edge)

July retains dry, clear, and relatively cool conditions with comfortable daytime temperatures and chilly nights; the dryness makes trails dusty but accessible. This is a good month for extended overland itineraries and visiting remote conservation areas with predictable transport. Bring warm layers for dawn game drives and expect strong, unobstructed sunlight during the day.
