Panachaiko Mountain

A mountain massif in Achaea in western Greece located northeast of the city of Patras, with a highest point of roughly 1,926 metres. It is the principal upland feature overlooking the Gulf of Corinth in the area.

Primarily a natural landscape rather than a built historic site, the massif has been used traditionally for grazing and local mountain activities. In recent decades parts of the area have been used for low-intensity recreational access and infrastructure such as service roads.

Located in the regional unit of Achaea, the massif rises northeast of Patras and overlooks the Gulf of Corinth to the north and west.

What to See#

The mountain is accessible by road from Patras; drive or take a local taxi to trailheads on the eastern and northern flanks. Some trails begin within a 30-45 minute drive from Patras city center.

• Drive or take a taxi to the main trailheads outside Patras to avoid a long uphill road walk.
• Start early to avoid the afternoon wind and to catch clearer views toward the Gulf of Corinth.
• Seasonal wildflowers in late spring create especially scenic trails; bring a camera and binoculars.
