The Palácio da Alvorada is the official residence of the President of Brazil, located in Brasília and designed by architect Oscar Niemeyer as part of the new capital’s mid-20th-century master plan. The building is a recognised example of Brazilian modernist architecture with a white, columned façade and a shallow reflection pool.

The palace serves as the formal presidential residence and hosts official receptions, state events and diplomatic meetings while also containing private quarters for the incumbent president. Architecturally it is noted for the clean horizontal lines, slender supporting columns and open-plan landscaping typical of Niemeyer’s civic projects.

Conceived and constructed during the creation of Brasília, the residence has been adapted and maintained across successive administrations and remains a focal point of the capital’s official precinct.
