Ostankino Palace

Ostankino Palace is an 18th century country estate on the northern edge of Moscow built as a noble family residence and now operated as a museum-reserve. It is historically associated with the Sheremetev family and their private collections.

The palace complex presents historic reception rooms, family apartments and preserved interior decoration arranged for public viewing; guided tours explain original uses and display family artefacts. Surrounding the palace is a formal landscaped park with ponds and avenues that visitors can walk through to see the estate layout and ponds.

The complex was created in the late 18th century for the Sheremetev noble family as their Moscow country seat and was later preserved as a museum. Over time parts of the estate were adapted for public access and museum displays while the park and outbuildings were retained within the protected reserve.

The palace sits in the Ostankino area north of central Moscow, within the city’s northern suburbs and parkland. It is close to major city transport routes and separate from the nearby Ostankino TV tower.
