How to Get to Oreshek Fortress
Oreshek Fortress (Shlisselburg) sits on Orekhovy Island at the head of the Neva, about 35 km east of central St. Petersburg. From St. Petersburg take a suburban commuter train (elektrichka) from Ladozhsky Railway Station to Shlisselburg station (journey ~30-40 minutes); from the town the fortress is reached by a short walk to the pier and a brief boat/ferry crossing to the island (boat service is seasonal). By car it is roughly a 35 km drive east from central St. Petersburg to Shlisselburg by road; parking is in the town and visitors then transfer to the island by boat.
