Main image

Oracle Park is a waterfront baseball stadium in San Francisco, the home of the San Francisco Giants. It opened in 2000 and is sited on the edge of San Francisco Bay, with distinctive right-field sightlines and a fan-friendly public concourse.

The stadium’s features include a seating bowl with multiple premium levels, views across the bay from many seats, and an accessible promenade around parts of the exterior. The adjacent water beyond right field, known as McCovey Cove, is a notable part of the game-day experience where balls sometimes land.

The park replaced the older Candlestick Park as the Giants’ home and has hosted postseason baseball, concerts, and other large events since opening. Fan amenities and sightlines are arranged to emphasize views of both the field and the bay.

Located in the South Beach neighborhood near the Embarcadero and Mission Bay, the ballpark is a short walk from the city’s public transit lines and central waterfront districts.

How to Get to Oracle Park #

Oracle Park is adjacent to San Francisco’s 4th & King Caltrain station - exit the station and it’s a 3-5 minute walk to the ballpark. You can also take BART to Embarcadero and walk south along the Embarcadero (about 15-20 minutes) or use Muni light rail/buses that stop near China Basin/4th Street. By car from downtown San Francisco it’s roughly 2-4 miles via I‑80/US‑101 or 280 depending on your starting point; from San Francisco International Airport it’s about 14-16 miles via US‑101/280.

Tips for Visiting Oracle Park #

  • Take public transit-Caltrain to 4th & King or Muni-to avoid heavy stadium-area traffic and parking difficulties; the ballpark is a short walk from the station.
  • Arrive well before first pitch if you want to watch batting practice or grab a spot along McCovey Cove for player tosses; gates typically open well in advance of game time.
  • Use mobile tickets and check the park's bag policy ahead of time to speed entry; weekday games and non-prime opponents also have noticeably smaller lines and transit crowds.

Best Time to Visit Oracle Park #

If you want to experience Oracle Park with fewer crowds, attend weekday games or visit during the offseason; peak crowd times are weekend and postseason games.

MLB season - primary visiting period
April-October (regular season); October (postseason if applicable) · San Francisco typical: ~10-20°C
Oracle Park is busiest during Giants home games; weekday day games or early season games typically have smaller crowds than weekend evening games and postseason games draw the largest crowds.
Off‑season - quiet
November-February · San Francisco typical: ~8-15°C
When no games are scheduled the ballpark area is much quieter-this is the best time for a low‑crowd visit, though access to inside areas may be limited.
Shoulder - moderate crowds
March · San Francisco typical: ~10-18°C
Spring (preseason and early regular season) brings moderate attendance; visiting on non‑game days or weekdays reduces crowds.
