How to Get to Olanchito#

Olanchito is reached mainly by road after flying into San Pedro Sula (SAP) or La Ceiba (LCE). Honduras has no active intercity passenger rail, so buses and shared vans are the normal public options.

By Air

Ramón Villeda Morales / San Pedro Sula (SAP): San Pedro Sula is the major international gateway for the region. From SAP, travel to Olanchito is by road - buses and shuttles from San Pedro Sula’s terminals run toward Tela/La Ceiba with stops near Olanchito; journey time is roughly 1.5-2.5 hours depending on route.

Golosón / La Ceiba (LCE): La Ceiba airport is closer geographically. From LCE you can reach Olanchito by intercity bus or taxi in around 1-1.5 hours; schedules and fares vary by operator and season.

By Train & Bus

Train: Honduras has no regular intercity passenger rail service; trains are not a travel option to Olanchito.

Bus: Intercity buses (and shared vans) from San Pedro Sula and La Ceiba are the standard way to reach Olanchito.
