Nusa Lembongan

Nusa Lembongan is a small island off the southeast coast of Bali, Indonesia, known for coral reefs, surf breaks and a compact, visitor-oriented shoreline. The island is low-lying with several small bays and one main village and has grown as a day-trip and short-stay destination for diving, snorkeling and surfing.

Popular on-water attractions include clear coral gardens and dive sites with access to nearby deeper-water reefs, while on land there are short walking routes, coastal viewpoints and a handful of restaurants and guesthouses clustered along the main bays. The island is also linked to adjacent Nusa Ceningan by a short pedestrian bridge and to Bali by regular boat services from Sanur.

Historically the island supported seaweed farming and fishing and tourism has expanded rapidly since the late 20th century, bringing small-scale hospitality development rather than large resorts.

Nusa Lembongan lies a short boat ride southeast of Bali and is part of the Indonesian province of Bali; the main landing points are on the island’s western side where most visitor facilities are concentrated.

• Boat access: Short speedboat crossings operate from Sanur on Bali and typically take around 25 to 40 minutes depending on sea conditions.
• Local economy: Seaweed farming and small-scale fishing remain visible livelihoods alongside expanding dive and surf tourism.

What to See #

• Jungut Batu: A long coastal village and the island's main settlement with shoreline restaurants, boat jetties and shallow-water coral fringing the bay.
• Mushroom Bay: A sheltered bay with calm water popular for swimming, snorkeling and sunset views, lined with small hotels and beach bars.
• Devil's Tear: A coastal cliff area where waves crash against rock ledges and spray creates dramatic plumes at high tide and strong swell.
• Yellow Bridge: A short, low pedestrian bridge linking to neighbouring Nusa Ceningan that is a local landmark and common foot route between the islands.
