How to Get to Nida, Lithuania

Nida sits at the southern end of the Curonian Spit and has no airport or rail link; arrivals are via Klaipėda/Palanga and then by bus or car. In summer buses are frequent and ferries/road access run regularly.

By Air

Palanga Airport (PLQ): The closest airport to Nida. From PLQ you can take a shuttle or bus to Klaipėda and then continue to Nida (see card 2); shuttle/bus to Klaipėda typically takes 30-45 minutes and costs around €3-6. Taxis from PLQ to Klaipėda or Palanga cost roughly €15-25.

Vilnius Airport (VNO) / Kaunas (KUN): If arriving to Vilnius or Kaunas you will need a bus or train+bus combination to Klaipėda and then a connecting bus to Nida. Expect total travel times of 4-5+ hours from Vilnius and 3.5-4+ hours from Kaunas by public transport.

By Train & Bus

Train: There is no rail on the Curonian Spit and Nida has no train station. The closest rail hub is Klaipėda railway station - use Lietuvos geležinkeliai to reach Klaipėda from Vilnius/Kaunas and then transfer by road.

Bus: Direct buses run from Klaipėda to Nida (operators such as Kautra and other regional carriers) and include a short ferry crossing from Klaipėda to Smiltynė or a drive across the spit depending on route. Typical one-way fares from Klaipėda to Nida are around €5-8 and the journey takes about 1.5-2 hours. From Vilnius expect ~4-5 hours and fares €15-25 depending on operator and season.

How to Get Around Nida, Lithuania #
