How to Get to Palanga
Palanga is served by its own small airport (PLQ) and by frequent long-distance buses from Vilnius and Kaunas. Once in Palanga local buses, taxis and walking will cover most needs - the resort town is compact.
Palanga Airport (PLQ): Palanga has its own airport just outside the town. There are shuttle buses and local transfers from PLQ to Palanga centre and Klaipėda - journeys to Palanga centre take about 10-15 minutes and shuttle fares are typically €2-5; taxis cost around €8-15.
Kaunas (KUN) / Vilnius (VNO): If you fly into Kaunas or Vilnius you can catch direct intercity buses to Palanga (see card 2). Expect total transfer times of 3-4 hours from Vilnius and 2.5-3 hours from Kaunas by bus; fares are in the €10-20 range depending on operator.
Train: The nearest major rail hub is Klaipėda railway station; from there you can connect to Palanga by local bus or taxi. Long-distance trains in Lithuania are run by Lietuvos geležinkeliai and connect Klaipėda with Kaunas and Vilnius.
Bus: Direct long-distance buses from Vilnius and Kaunas to Palanga and Klaipėda are frequent (operators include Kautra and private carriers). Typical fares are €8-15 from Vilnius (3.5-4 hours) and slightly less from Kaunas (2.5-3 hours). Local buses run between Palanga and nearby Klaipėda (about €1-3, ~20-30 minutes).
How to Get Around Palanga #
Palanga is very walkable around the beach, pier and Basanavičiaus pedestrian street; in summer many visitors prefer bikes or scooters for longer stretches. Local buses and taxis serve neighbourhoods beyond the centre. During peak season parking is scarce and traffic can be heavy; short taxi rides cost a few euros, while local buses are inexpensive. Plan extra time for movement along the coast in high season.

Nightlife in Palanga #
Palanga has the liveliest nightlife among these towns, especially in summer when Basanavičiaus Street fills with bars, live acts and seasonal clubs. Many venues operate outdoors and stay open late during the high season. Off-season evenings are much quieter, with most nightlife reduced to restaurants and hotel bars.

Shopping in Palanga #
Palanga is a beach-resort shopping spot: Basanavičiaus Street and the area near the pier are full of souvenir stalls, amber shops, beachwear boutiques and ice-cream kiosks. Look for amber jewellery and summer apparel. Outside of the tourist core you’ll find a few supermarkets and local shops; for larger malls and broader selection, Klaipėda is the nearest city option.
