Air Namibia
Air Namibia was the national flag carrier of Namibia and was government-owned; it ceased scheduled operations in February 2021 and no longer sells passenger flights. From a traveler’s perspective, the airline is not a viable option for booking travel and any planning involving Air Namibia should be replaced with alternative carriers serving Windhoek (WDH) or connecting through regional hubs.
Where Air Namibia Flies
Air Namibia no longer operates scheduled routes; at the time it ceased operations its main base was Hosea Kutako International Airport (WDH). When it was active, the carrier primarily connected domestic points within Namibia and provided regional services around Southern Africa, with some longer-distance services on select routes; any historical codeshare arrangements are not currently in effect due to the airline’s closure.

Aircraft and Cabin Classes
Historically Air Namibia operated a mixed fleet that included Airbus A320-family narrowbodies and Airbus A330/A340 widebodies, alongside regional Embraer jets and older Boeing 747 types listed in historical records. Cabin configurations varied by aircraft and route and changed over time; specifics depended on the aircraft type and the route served. Because the airline has ceased operations, these aircraft types are not currently available under Air Namibia service.
Aircraft types operated: Airbus A320 family, Airbus A330, Airbus A340, Embraer ERJ 145, Boeing 747SP, Boeing 747-400
Tips for Flying Air Namibia
- Do not book new travel on Air Namibia - the airline ceased scheduled operations in February 2021 and is not selling flights.
- If you hold an Air Namibia ticket, contact the travel agent or the issuer of your ticket immediately to request a refund or reissue, and consider contacting your credit card company about chargeback options if you encounter delays.
- For travel to Windhoek (WDH), search for alternative carriers and routings through regional hubs rather than relying on Air Namibia service.
- If you have unused vouchers or miles tied to Air Namibia, check with the issuer or Namibia’s aviation authorities for the latest guidance on refunds or program status.
