How to Get to Nagarkot
Nagarkot is a short mountain escape east of Kathmandu reachable by road from Tribhuvan Airport or central Kathmandu. For most visitors a taxi or tourist shuttle is the easiest route; local buses and shared jeeps are cheaper but less predictable.
Tribhuvan International Airport (KTM): Kathmandu’s airport is the gateway to Nagarkot. From KTM to Nagarkot by road takes about 1-1.5 hours depending on traffic and your exact start point in Kathmandu; taxis cost roughly NPR 2,000-NPR 4,000 one way for private transfers. Many hotels in Nagarkot offer pickup services.
Gautam Buddha International Airport (BWA): This airport is distant from Nagarkot and rarely used for travellers heading directly to Nagarkot-Kathmandu remains the practical arrival point.
Train: Nepal does not have an intercity passenger train service serving Nagarkot.
Bus / Microbus: Local minibuses and tourist shuttles run from Kathmandu (e.g., from Boudha, Bhaktapur or Bhadrakali areas) to Nagarkot; travel time is around 1-1.5 hours depending on traffic.
