Muncaster Castle is a historic castle near the village of Ravenglass on the Cumbrian coast of northwest England, with a medieval origin and long family association.

Take Northern services on the Cumbrian Coast Line to Ravenglass station (regular trains from Barrow-in-Furness, Whitehaven and Carlisle). From Ravenglass station the castle is roughly 1-2 km away (about a 20-30 minute walk) or a few minutes by taxi/car; follow local roads off the A595 to the Muncaster Castle entrance. The Ravenglass & Eskdale heritage railway also operates from Ravenglass in season and provides a scenic connection toward Eskdale.

• Arrive early in the morning to explore the gardens and rooms before the main visitor groups arrive; mornings are quieter for walking the grounds and give better light for photos of the castle exterior and gardens.
• Check the Hawk & Owl Centre schedule and book flying displays or timed activities in advance - the bird displays are a highlight and can sell out or be busiest at midday, so planning avoids disappointment.
• Follow signposted access from the A595 and use the main visitor entrance and car park; local lanes around Ravenglass are narrow so allow extra time for arrival on busy summer days.
