How to Get to Mumbwa

Mumbwa is most often reached by road from Lusaka (Kenneth Kaunda International). Regular coaches and private transfers cover the route; rail connections are not generally used.

By Air

Kenneth Kaunda International Airport, Lusaka (LUN): Lusaka is the primary international gateway for reaching Mumbwa. From Lusaka the road transfer to Mumbwa takes about 2.5-4 hours by car or coach depending on traffic and roadworks. Intercity buses and private transfers operate this route; coach fares are typically modest while private transfers cost more.

Ndola/Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airport (NLA): Ndola is farther away and less convenient for Mumbwa than Lusaka; travelers most commonly fly into Lusaka and continue by road. Using Ndola increases overland travel time significantly and is not the usual approach.

By Train & Bus

Train: Zambia Railways does not provide a practical passenger service directly to Mumbwa for most travelers; rail is not a common arrival method.

Bus/Coach: Intercity buses and shared minibuses operate between Lusaka and Mumbwa. Coaches typically take 3-4 hours depending on route and stops and are the standard budget option; ticket prices are inexpensive but vary by operator.
