Mount Wilis is an isolated volcanic massif in East Java, Indonesia, that rises above the surrounding plains. It forms a distinct forested highland separate from the main spine of Java’s volcanic chain.

Hikers follow routes through forested slopes to reach viewpoints and ridge tops; the massif is valued for its relative remoteness within eastern Java. The mountain supports local biodiversity and provides a green highland area amid agricultural lowlands.

Geologically it is a volcanic highland formed by past volcanic activity and subsequent erosion; it stands apart from the island’s main active volcanoes. Local land uses include forestry and agriculture on lower slopes.
