Accommodation is a mix of village guesthouses in Imlil and basic mountain accommodation at the Toubkal Refuge or wild camping for those carrying gear. The route is notable for packing a classic alpine summit experience into a compact itinerary close to Marrakech.

The nearest international airport and transport hub is Marrakech. From there travellers catch a taxi, shared grand taxi or organised transfer to Imlil, the common trailhead; the drive typically takes about 1 to 2 hours depending on traffic and road conditions.

Most walkers start in Imlil and climb up-valley to the refuge then continue to the summit and return by the same route. Local guides and mule operators are easily arranged in Imlil if you prefer guided support or luggage transfer.

The main walking season runs from late spring through early autumn when high-altitude snow is least likely and the refuge is fully operational. Shoulder months offer cooler temperatures and fewer crowds; summit attempts should avoid heavy winter snow unless you have mountaineering experience and equipment.

Book the Toubkal Refuge or village guesthouses in busier months and arrange a guide in advance if you want one. Expect hot sun in the valley, cold nights at higher altitude and the risk of winter ice above about 3,000 m.
