Mount Pantokrator is the highest point on the island of Corfu in the Ionian Islands region of Greece and a prominent local landmark. The summit area includes a small monastery and chapel that are visible from much of the island.

The summit is a popular short excursion for visitors seeking panoramic views. On clear days the outlook includes the northern Ionian Sea, Corfu’s coastline and, across the water, parts of the Albanian mainland.

Historically the summit site has held a religious building for centuries and the current monastery complex has been maintained as a pilgrimage and visitor site. The mountain has long been used as a vantage point and local landmark for maritime navigation.

Mount Pantokrator sits in the northeastern part of Corfu island and forms a dominant ridge above nearby coastal villages; it is a short drive from Corfu Town and other island settlements.

• Summit access and views: A surfaced road reaches near the summit, making the summit and monastery accessible by car or bike and enabling expansive coastal and Albanian mainland views on clear days.

What to See#

• Monastery of Pantokrator: A small monastery building and chapel occupy the summit area; the site is a focal point for visitors and offers panoramic views over Corfu and the Ionian Sea.

From Corfu Town (Kerkyra) it is about a 30-40 minute drive northeast: follow the main road toward Nymfes and then take the narrow asphalt road up toward the summit. There is a small parking area near the summit; during summer weekends it can fill, so arrive early. Public buses do not run to the peak - taxis from the town or organized tours are the usual alternatives for non-drivers.

• Drive the narrow road from Nymfes village rather than attempting the steep hiking trail from Old Perithia if pressed for time - the summit car park leaves only a short walk to the viewpoints.
• Arrive at dawn for a clear, almost theatrical view: on a good morning Albania's coast reads like an ink wash across the horizon; later in the day haze and ferry exhaust blunt the vista.
• Bring a windproof layer - the summit sits at 906 m and can gust sharply even in summer; the small café near the top closes early in shoulder seasons.
• Ask the caretaker about the chapel's votive offerings and the well with a carved stone rim; these human marks tell more about island life than any brochure.
