Rising on the Osaka-Nara fringe, Mount Ikoma draws hikers and pilgrims to Hozan-ji temple, short cable-car rides, shrine festivals and skyline views over the Kansai plain.
Mount Ikoma straddles the boundary between Osaka and Nara prefectures in central Japan. It reaches roughly 642 meters and is a prominent green wedge immediately adjacent to the Kansai urban area.
The mountain combines religious, recreational and transport infrastructure - notable features include the Hozan-ji temple complex near the summit, a local amusement/recreation area and cable railway services that carry visitors uphill. Walking trails and lookout points provide views over the Osaka plain and toward Nara.
Historically the mountain has been a site for temples and pilgrimage routes; today it is also a local day-trip destination for residents of nearby cities.
The ridge lies on the border of Osaka and Nara prefectures and is easily reached from the Osaka metropolitan area by regional rail and road links.

Ikoma is reachable by Kintetsu Railway from Osaka and Nara stations; the Ikoma Cable Line runs from the base town up toward higher trailheads. Local buses and taxis connect the rail stations to trailheads and temples.
