Mount Bongao is the prominent hill on Bongao Island in Tawi-Tawi province in the far south of the Philippines, rising directly above Bongao town. It is a locally important landmark and a popular short hike that culminates in panoramic views over the surrounding Sulu Sea and nearby islets.
The climb follows established trails and stairways through low forest and rock outcrops, and the summit area contains shrines and small ritual sites that reflect the mountain’s ongoing spiritual significance. How to Get to Mount Bongao #
Mount Bongao (Bongao Peak) is on Bongao Island in Tawi‑Tawi province. The island’s main town (Bongao) is the usual access point; visitors reach Bongao by air to Sanga‑Sanga/Tawi‑Tawi area or by ferry from Zamboanga/other Mindanao ports, then transfer to Bongao town and local boats or motorbikes. The trailhead for the peak is a short ride from Bongao town followed by a hike to the summit.
