Morondava District is an administrative district on the west coast of Madagascar in the Menabe region, centred on the town of Morondava. The district includes coastal lowlands, dry deciduous forest, and notable natural attractions.
The area has long been inhabited by Sakalava communities and developed as a local trading and fishing centre; conservation interest in the late 20th century established protected areas in the district to conserve its unique flora and fauna.
Morondava District faces the Mozambique Channel on Madagascar’s west coast, with the town of Morondava as its administrative centre and the Avenue of the Baobabs located to the north of the town.

Fly to Morondava (Morondava Airport) from Antananarivo (domestic carriers). Overland access is via RN34 from Antsirabe and Miandrivazo; expect long journeys on unpaved roads. Local transport in the district is by taxi-brousse or hired 4x4.
