Moon Hill is a karst limestone hill near Yangshuo in Guangxi, China, notable for a large moon-shaped natural arch that passes through the hill. It is a well-known local landmark within the Guilin-Yangshuo karst landscape.
A marked trail and steps lead up the hill to viewing platforms that frame the arch and give panoramic views over the surrounding karst peaks and rice paddies. The climb is a popular short hike for day visitors based in Yangshuo.
The arch and hill are products of karst erosion in a landscape of steep limestone towers typical of the region. The site has become a recognizable part of Yangshuo’s tourist circuit and is often photographed from nearby roads and viewpoints.
Moon Hill sits a few kilometres northeast of Yangshuo town in Guangxi province, within the larger Guilin karst region. The surrounding area is agricultural and scenic, with the hill readily accessible from Yangshuo by road.

How to Get to Moon Hill #
Moon Hill is in Yangshuo County, about 7-8 km from Yangshuo town centre. From Yangshuo, take a short taxi, bike (popular and scenic) or local bus to the Moon Hill entrance near the village of Gaotian. The walk up the steps through the arch takes around 20-30 minutes from the ticket gate.

- Climb the wooden stairway early to avoid the midday tour groups; the arch fills with light in the morning.
- Wear light footwear with grip - the stair timber can be slippery after rain.
- Don't miss the viewpoint north of the arch for a classic shot of the karst cones receding into the distance.
