Montaza Palace

Montaza Palace is a royal palace complex and large public garden on the eastern waterfront of Alexandria, Egypt, notable for its seaside setting and landscaped grounds.

The site offers extensive formal gardens, shaded promenades and coastal views along a stretch of Mediterranean shoreline. Visitors typically walk the gardens, use public beaches near the grounds, and view the exterior of the palace buildings from the promenades.

The complex was created for Egypt’s royal family during the late 19th and early 20th centuries and was expanded with additional buildings and gardens during that period. After the end of the monarchy, the grounds were turned into public gardens while some palace buildings retained restricted use.

The complex sits on Alexandria’s eastern seafront, within the city’s Montaza district and directly adjacent to the Mediterranean coast.
