How to Get to Moderna Museet #
By metro and on foot: Moderna Museet is on the island of Skeppsholmen, a short walk from Stockholm Central (T‑Centralen). From T‑Centralen it’s about a 10-15 minute walk across Skeppsholmsbron to the museum.
By bus: you can also take Stockholm bus 65 from the city center/Central Station toward Djurgården and get off for Skeppsholmen (short walk). The museum is clearly signposted from the Skeppsholmen stop.
Tips for Visiting Moderna Museet #
- Timing: visit weekday mornings or during quieter late‑afternoon hours to see the permanent collection with fewer people and to enjoy the museum terrace views across to Gamla Stan.
- Location/entrance: the Moderna Museet is on Skeppsholmen island - combine the visit with a short ferry from Nybroplan/Strandvägen for a pleasant approach and to include ArkDes (opposite) on the same trip.
- Buy separate timed tickets for special exhibitions in advance; the permanent collection (20th‑century modern masters) is available without the same demand, but temporary shows can sell out.
- Don't miss the museum terrace and views toward the Old Town - it's one of the easier, quieter vantage points in central Stockholm where visitors often linger after the galleries.
