Midongy du Sud National Park is a protected area in the Atsimo-Atsinanana region of southeastern Madagascar that protects inland rainforest and montane terrain. The park conserves pockets of native forest and freshwater catchments within a rugged, sparsely populated landscape.
The park contains stands of lowland and montane rainforest and supports endemic Malagasy flora and fauna characteristic of southeastern Madagascar; river valleys and steep slopes are common features. Visitor infrastructure is limited and access typically requires overland travel and local guides.
The protected area was designated to conserve biodiversity and local watersheds and has been subject to conservation efforts to protect species and habitats from agricultural encroachment and logging.
The park lies inland in the Atsimo-Atsinanana region of southeastern Madagascar, within a mountainous and forested zone of the island.
