Country Weather in February

Country High Low Rain UV Feels

Representative figures from each country's largest city. High / low are average daily temperatures (°C); “Feels” allows for humidity.

Palau & Yap (Palau; Yap State, FSM)

By February the trades still blow reliably, so mornings on Yap’s outer islands feel crisp compared with the hot afternoons; sea temperatures are comfortably in the high 20s °C. Short, intense showers pass quickly over Koror and the high rainforest of Babeldaob, leaving visibility good for diving around Peleliu and the Rock Islands. Travelers should bring reef shoes and a thin rain layer-roads can be slippery after tropical downpours, but crowds remain low for island stays.

Central Caroline Islands (Chuuk, Pohnpei & Kosrae - Federated States of Micronesia)

Late-season trades still bring relief in February, producing pleasant mornings and warm afternoons across Pohnpei, Chuuk and Kosrae; diving visibility is often very good for exploring Chuuk Lagoon’s WWII wrecks. Rainfall is lower than in the mid-year wet season, though isolated showers will refresh the jungle and cool island villages. Bring reef-safe sunscreen and insect repellent for evening village visits, as mosquitoes are present near mangroves and freshwater pools.

Mariana Islands (Guam & Northern Mariana Islands - Guam; Saipan, Tinian, Rota)

February still showcases the cooling influence of northeast trades, keeping coastal days comfortable and the sea relatively calm for boat trips to spots like Tinian or Rota. Occasional frontal showers sweep across the islands but rarely last long; diving and snorkeling are popular, and road access to viewpoints is generally reliable. Travelers should pack sun protection and a lightweight rain layer for short showers.

Marshall Islands (Majuro, Kwajalein, Bikini Atoll - Republic of the Marshall Islands)

Late-season trades in February keep humidity a little lower than the wet season and the ocean surface warm and inviting for snorkeling over the reefs around Kwajalein and Bikini Atoll (permits required for some sites). Occasional short showers refresh the atoll vegetation but seldom halt boat operations for long. Travelers should still bring reef shoes and be aware that services on outer atolls can be limited.

Kiribati (Gilbert Islands) & Nauru

Late-summer warmth in February brings frequent brief tropical downpours and uniformly warm nights; Tarawa (South Tarawa) and Nauru can feel sultry and sticky throughout the day. El Niño/La Niña swings influence rainfall-droughts can occur during El Niño years-so conditions can vary year to year. Travelers should plan conservatively, carry extra water and supplies, and be aware that infrastructure can be strained after heavy rains.
