Mi Teleférico is an urban aerial cable car system operating in La Paz and El Alto in Bolivia, built to provide public transport across steep urban slopes. The system comprises multiple cable lines connecting neighbourhoods and stations across the two cities and has become an integral part of urban mobility.

Riders use the cable cars as regular transit as well as for views across the city and valley; stations serve as interchanges with buses and local transport. The network was developed to improve connectivity between La Paz and the high-altitude plateau of El Alto and to reduce road congestion.

The project replaced or supplemented steep road routes with aerial links and expanded in stages to add lines and connections to different sectors of both cities.

The system runs across the metropolitan area of La Paz and El Alto in western Bolivia, climbing from the city valley up to the higher Altiplano plateau and providing rapid links between dispersed urban neighbourhoods.

• Network and views: Lines link neighbourhoods across steep urban terrain and provide panoramic views of La Paz and the Altiplano; they are integrated with the city transit system.

Mi Teleférico is La Paz’s city cable‑car network linking central La Paz with El Alto and several hillside neighborhoods. Access a station from downtown La Paz (taxi, minibus or walking depending on your location) and ride the network to the hill or El Alto stations; the system is integrated into the city’s public transport pattern and is used as a primary way to move between downtown La Paz and El Alto.

• Avoid rush-hour commuter times (roughly 7-9am and 5-7pm) when the cable cars are packed-mid-morning and mid-afternoon rides offer roomier cabins and better views.
• Buy and top up the rechargeable teleférico card at major stations before boarding so you avoid queues at busy terminals.
• Take an uphill cabin from La Paz toward El Alto for the clearest panoramic city-and-mountain perspectives, and consider hopping lines to travel across neighborhoods rather than just using the system as point-to-point transport.
