How to Get to Mebisa
Mebisa in Chukha District is reached primarily by road after entering Bhutan via Paro or the southern border. Bhutan has no rail network, so expect mountain driving with hired drivers or buses for longer inter-district journeys.
Paro International Airport (PBH): Bhutan’s main international airport and the usual entry point for international travellers. From Paro to Chukha District (and onward toward Mebisa) travel is by road - routes cross mountain passes and can take several hours; vehicle hire with a driver is the standard option.
Bagdogra (IXB) / Guwahati (GAU) (India): Some visitors enter Bhutan via Indian airports and cross at Phuentsholing; from the border towns you continue by road into Chukha District. Road travel times depend on border formalities and onward distance to specific villages like Mebisa.
Train: Bhutan has no railway network. The nearest Indian railheads for southern border crossings are New Jalpaiguri (Siliguri) / Hasimara depending on route; onward travel into Bhutan is by road.
Bus: Within Bhutan and across the border, scheduled and private buses operate between district towns. In Chukha District, travel between towns and villages is mainly by road using buses, shared taxis and private vehicles; services vary and are less frequent than in large cities.
