How to Get to Marijampolė
Marijampolė is best reached by intercity bus from Kaunas or Vilnius; Kaunas Airport is the closest. Trains exist but buses have more frequent and direct services.
Kaunas Airport (KUN): The closest major airport for Marijampolė. From KUN take a shuttle to Kaunas centre (~€3-5, 20-30 minutes) and then an intercity bus to Marijampolė (see card 2). Taxi from the airport to Kaunas city centre costs about €12-20.
Vilnius Airport (VNO): Also an option - from VNO take bus or shuttle to Vilnius central bus station (~€1.50, ~25-35 minutes) and then a direct bus to Marijampolė; total travel time is generally 2-3 hours by public transport depending on schedule.
Train: Marijampolė has a railway station on regional routes; train services exist but are less frequent than buses. Use Lietuvos geležinkeliai timetables to check direct connections from Kaunas or Vilnius.
Bus: Intercity buses are the most frequent way to reach Marijampolė from Kaunas and Vilnius. Typical fares from Kaunas are around €3-6 and journey times about 1-1.5 hours; from Vilnius expect ~1.5-2.5 hours and fares €5-10 depending on operator.
