How to Get to Mariano Colón
Mariano Colón (Coamo) is best reached by road from Ponce's Mercedita Airport (PSE) or from San Juan (SJU) with a longer drive. No rail service - driving or arranging a transfer gives the greatest convenience.
Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU): San Juan’s airport is the common arrival point for central southern Puerto Rico; Coamo (Mariano Colón area) is roughly 1-1.25 hours’ drive from SJU via PR-52 and PR-14. Car rental or taxi/shuttle is recommended.
Mercedita Airport (PSE), Ponce: Ponce’s airport is closer to Coamo - driving from PSE to Coamo typically takes about 25-40 minutes, making PSE a convenient option when available.
Train: There is no passenger rail serving Coamo.
Bus: Intercity buses and shared taxis link Coamo with Ponce and other southern towns; these are economical but can be infrequent. For reliable timing, use a rental car or pre-booked transfer.
