Maracas Bay is a crescent-shaped sandy beach on the north coast of Trinidad, in the island’s Northern Range area. It is among Trinidad’s most popular public beaches.
The bay offers a wide stretch of sand backed by coconut palms and steep, forested hills, with waves that attract swimmers and bodyboarders. Food stalls and roadside vendors near the parking area make it a culinary as well as a beach destination.
Maracas Bay has long been a recreational destination for residents of Port of Spain and surrounding communities and grew in popularity with improved road access in the 20th century. It remains a primary coastal leisure site for weekend and holiday visitors.
