Mangrove National Park National Park

Mangrove National Park is a protected coastal mangrove area in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, conserving shoreline mangrove forests that fringe the city. It is managed to protect tidal wetlands and the wildlife that depend on them.

The park features accessible boardwalks and designated kayak launch points that allow short walks and paddle trips through mangrove channels. Visitors commonly use guided kayak tours and short interpretive trails to view birds, juvenile fish nurseries and the distinctive prop roots of mangrove trees.

The area was set aside for conservation by Abu Dhabi authorities to protect coastal mangrove habitat and provide public access for low-impact recreation. Management focuses on habitat protection and regulated visitor access.

Geographically the park sits along Abu Dhabi’s eastern coastal fringe near Abu Dhabi city, on sheltered tidal flats and inlets that connect to the Arabian Gulf. It is reachable by a short drive from central Abu Dhabi.

• Best time to visit: Best visited in the cooler months from October to April when temperatures are milder and outdoor activities are more comfortable.
• Wildlife viewing: Early morning and late afternoon offer the most bird activity and softer light for photography along the shorelines and boardwalks.

• Boardwalks and viewing platforms: A raised timber boardwalk and viewing platforms that provide close views of mangrove trunks, root systems and shorebirds without disturbing the habitat; sections are designed for easy public access and short walks.
• Kayak and paddle routes: Designated kayak and small-boat launch areas used for guided and self-guided paddles through mangrove channels to see wildlife at close range.

The park is in the Eastern or central Abu Dhabi coastline and is typically reached by car from Abu Dhabi city via Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Road and local exits. Many eco-tours depart from Abu Dhabi’s marina areas and include transport and guided kayak options.
