MLA uses a single passenger terminal building with dedicated departure and arrivals levels. Check‑in, security and boarding gates are all within the same complex; airline-operated lounges and a few pay‑per‑use lounges are available airside. The terminal is straightforward to navigate but can get busy during the peak summer season.

The airport is about 8-10 km from Valletta and roughly 15-25 minutes by car without heavy traffic. Public buses operated by Malta Public Transport run regular services between the airport and major towns including Valletta, Sliema and St Julian’s-typical bus journey to Valletta is about 20-30 minutes and fares are low (single fares are inexpensive; check the Tallinja app for current prices). Taxis to Valletta/Sliema take about 20-30 minutes and usually cost in the €20-30 range. Shared airport shuttles and private transfers are common; car hire desks are located at the terminal curbside/arrival hall.

The terminal offers a mix of sit‑down restaurants and fast‑food outlets both landside and airside, plus duty‑free shopping for international departures. Wi‑Fi is available (typically free with basic access limits). There are charging points in the departure lounge and seating areas. Airline lounges include Air Malta’s facilities and some pay‑per‑use options; airport assistance for reduced mobility is provided-contact your airline in advance. Currency exchange and car hire desks are located in arrivals.

There are several hotel options within a short drive of the airport; most larger hotels are clustered in St Julian’s/Sliema (about 15-25 minutes’ drive).
