Main Tower is a prominent commercial skyscraper in Frankfurt’s banking district, Hesse, rising to roughly 200 metres and completed in the late 1990s. The building combines offices, media spaces and public facilities.
The tower’s public observation area provides panoramic views across Frankfurt’s skyline, the River Main and surrounding suburbs and is open to visitors for sightseeing. The building is also used for conferences and commercial offices and contributes to the city’s modern skyline.
Constructed as part of Frankfurt’s late-20th-century expansion of high-rise development, the tower became one of the city’s recognisable modern landmarks upon completion and has been integrated into Frankfurt’s commercial core.
Main Tower stands in Frankfurt’s Innenstadt financial district, close to the Alte Oper and the River Main, and is well served by public transport.

Main Tower stands in Frankfurt’s banking district on Neue Mainzer Straße. The nearest major rail access is Taunusanlage S‑Bahn station (served by S-Bahn lines S1-S6), about a 5‑minute walk to the tower; Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof is also within roughly 1-1.5 km and walkable. The site is well served by local trams and buses in the Innenstadt.
Tips for Visiting Main Tower #
- Buy timed-entry tickets in advance or arrive late afternoon to combine daylight views and sunset city lights - the observation deck fills up around sunset and advance booking reduces queueing.
- Enter from the tower's main plaza on Neue Mainzer Straße (the banking district side) where the public lift and ticket desk are located; that is the standard visitor entrance and easiest for drop‑off by taxi.
- Reserve a table at the tower restaurant if you want dinner with a view - it fills quickly on weekends and provides a quieter panorama than the public deck, which is frequented by tour groups.
