How to Get to Madifushi
Madifushi (Laamu/ Kolhumadulu Atoll) is reached from Malé by domestic flight or by a combination of flight and speedboat/seaplane transfers. Transfers from Malé are usually arranged in advance by resorts/guesthouses and can be a significant part of travel time and cost.
Velana International (MLE), Malé: Most international trips to Madifushi start at Velana International. From Malé you continue by domestic flight to the main airport serving Laamu (Kaadedhdhoo - KDM) or by seaplane depending on operator/resort arrangements; domestic flights take about 30-40 minutes. Domestic flight fares vary widely but typically range from about US$120-US$250 one-way when not included with a resort package.
Kaadedhdhoo (KDM): If you arrive at Kaadedhdhoo by domestic flight, the final leg to Madifushi is usually a speedboat or transfer boat arranged by local operators or resorts; boat transfers can take roughly 20-60 minutes depending on sea conditions and distance and commonly cost US$20-US$80 per person when not included in a package.
Train: There are no train services in the Maldives.
Bus: There are no intercity bus services between islands. Island-to-island travel is by scheduled domestic flight, seaplane or speedboat; local ferries also operate on set schedules but are slower. Confirm transfer arrangements with your guesthouse or resort - many require pre-booked speedboat or seaplane transfers.
