How to Get to Felidhoo
Felidhoo is an inhabited island in Vaavu Atoll (central Maldives) reached by boat from Malé (Velana International Airport). There is no rail transport; transfers are by scheduled public ferry (cheaper, slower) or speedboat/private transfer (faster, pricier).
Velana International Airport, Malé (MLE): Velana is the Maldives’ main international airport. To reach Felidhoo (Vaavu Atoll) from Malé you can take a scheduled public ferry or arrange a speedboat/private transfer. Public ferries are the cheapest option (see below); a speedboat transfer typically takes about 60-90 minutes and private speedboat fares to Vaavu islands commonly range from about USD 80-150 per person or higher for private charters.
Domestic airports: There is not a direct international airport on Vaavu Atoll. Some visitors use domestic flights to nearby domestic airports and then a boat transfer; availability depends on scheduled domestic routes and your resort or guesthouse’s transfer options. Always confirm transfer arrangements with your accommodation before arrival.
Train: There is no train network in the Maldives.
Boat / Ferry: Public ferries connect Malé and other hubs to Vaavu Atoll islands including Felidhoo; the public ferry journey can take several hours (commonly 3-6 hours depending on route and stops) and fares are the cheapest option (often under USD 20-30). Speedboat transfers are much faster (around 1-1.5 hours) but considerably more expensive; private transfers are available from Malé or Hulhumalé and are typically arranged through guesthouses or tour operators.
How to Get Around Felidhoo #
Felidhoo is a small local island in the Maldives where walking and cycling are the main ways to get around; there are no cars. Short distances mean you can reach most guesthouses, shops and the jetty on foot. To travel between islands you’ll use public ferries or speedboats; timetables can be limited, so book transfers through your guesthouse and check return boat times carefully.
