October brings cooler air and a clear change in light; chestnut-lined avenues around Belair and Merl often show strong autumn colour while daytime highs fall into the low teens. Rain becomes a more consistent companion, and early frosts can appear at month’s end, so pack thermals for late-evening concerts and meals out. Museums and indoor attractions are quieter on weekdays.
