Lungi International Airport

Lungi operates from a single passenger terminal building handling arrivals and departures. The terminal is compact and built to handle the airport’s mix of international traffic.

There is no inter‑terminal shuttle; movements within the terminal are by walking between check‑in, security and gate areas.

The airport is separated from central Freetown by the Sierra Leone River; common transfer methods are fast boat/ferry, organized road+boat shuttles and helicopter or sea taxis - total door‑to‑door times vary considerably.

• Ferry / speedboat: Fast boat or ferry services cross the estuary to Freetown and nearby docks; crossing times can be 20-60 minutes depending on the service and landing point.
• Road + ferry: Some transfers combine a road drive around the estuary with a short boat leg - these can take longer but operate when direct boat services are limited.
• Helicopter / air transfer: Charter or scheduled air transfers may be available for quicker transfers to Freetown.
• Taxi / driving: Direct road driving around the estuary is possible but much longer; road infrastructure and travel time vary.

Lungi provides essential passenger services for international travel: basic food outlets, car hire desks, currency exchange and arrival assistance.
