How to Get to Lubang Island #

The main entry point is the port town of Looc on Lubang Island’s southeast coast. Regular pumpboats and ferries connect Looc with the Batangas port of Abra de Ilog and San Jose (Mindoro) when weather permits; schedules are informal-book through a local operator or the municipal tourism office in Looc. From Manila, buses run to Batangas City (about 2-3 hours) where one can transfer to a ferry to Mindoro and onward arrangements to Lubang, or charter a direct boat from Batangas ports when available.

Tips for Visiting Lubang Island #

  • Book a pumpboat from Lubang town (Looc) in advance-boats leave when the tide and crew agree, not by a timetable.
  • Hire a local guide in Looc to visit WWII relics and remote beaches; many trails are unmarked and a guide shortens travel time.
  • Bring cash; ATMs are rare on the island. Plan fuel and food stops if renting a motorbike.
  • If visiting the Onoda sites (see local museums and memorials), ask for directions in Looc-locals remember details that maps do not.
