How to Get to Lubāna
Lubāna is a small town in Madona Municipality; most visitors arrive via Riga and continue by regional bus or car. There is no direct rail link-regional coaches from Riga or nearby towns are the usual onward option.
Riga International Airport (RIX): The nearest major international airport for Lubāna is Riga International Airport (RIX). From RIX you can take the airport bus or coach to Riga city centre (20-30 min, ~€2); from Riga central coach station there are regional buses to Madona/Lubāna (typical fare €6-€10, journey ~2-2.5 hours). A taxi or private transfer from RIX directly to Lubāna is possible but will be expensive (often €100+ and ~1.5-2 hours depending on route).
Train: There is no direct intercity passenger rail service into Lubāna; Latvia’s passenger rail operator is Pasažieru vilciens and its network focuses on lines radiating from Riga. For rail travel use Riga or Rēzekne stations and connect onward by bus.
