How to Get to Lospalos
Lospalos on the eastern tip of Timor-Leste is best reached overland from Dili by shared minibus or private car; the road trip is long and can be slow. Plan for a full-day journey or split into stages via Baucau.
Presidente Nicolau Lobato International Airport, Dili (DIL): Dili is the primary air gateway for travelers heading to Lospalos. From Dili the remainder of the journey is by road.
Baucau Airport (BCO): Baucau has an airstrip but regular commercial flights to Lospalos are not a reliable option; overland travel remains the usual choice to reach Lospalos.
Train: There is no passenger rail service in Timor-Leste.
Bus / Minibus (Intercity): Buses and shared minibuses connect Dili with the far-eastern town of Lospalos; the trip is long (often 5-7 hours) because of distance and road conditions. Expect basic vehicles, informal timetables, and fares paid in USD; consider breaking the journey in Baucau if you prefer shorter driving days.
