How to Get to Loikaw
Loikaw is most reliably reached by domestic flight when schedules permit; otherwise prepare for long overland journeys by bus or private car. Airport services are limited - check flight schedules in advance.
Loikaw Airport (LIW): Loikaw has a small domestic airport served by Myanmar domestic carriers on limited schedules that connect to Yangon and Mandalay on select days. From the airport to Loikaw town centre is a short road transfer (roughly 10-20 minutes) by taxi; expect modest domestic-fare taxi costs (local kyat amounts) depending on arrangements.
Heho or Yangon (for international connections): International travellers often fly into Yangon (RGN) and take a domestic connection to Loikaw or travel overland. Overland transfers from major cities can be long; domestic flights are the quickest way to reach Loikaw when available.
