Joninės (midsummer) festivities in late June are popular and crowded in Vilnius and rural areas, with bonfires and traditional music attracting locals and visitors. For outdoor adventures bring sun protection, insect repellent and a light jacket for cooler evenings by the water.
Druskininkai, Varėna, Merkinė
June brings warm days ideal for exploring regional parks such as Dzukija National Park and river excursions; long daylight makes it possible to combine hikes with evening spa sessions. Midges and mosquitoes increase near bogs and marshes, so repellent is necessary for dusk walks. Expect comfortable temperatures for walking and cycling, and book guesthouses early for weekend stays if you want lakeside cabins.
