How to Get to Limuru
Limuru (Kiambu County) is a 30-60 minute drive from Nairobi and is best reached from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport by road. Shared matatus are cheapest; taxis or private cars are quicker and more comfortable.
Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Nairobi (NBO): Nairobi’s main international airport is the usual arrival point for Limuru. From NBO you can travel by taxi, shuttle or matatu to Limuru; typical road travel time to Limuru is about 45 minutes to 1.5 hours depending on traffic.
Wilson Airport (WIL): Wilson serves domestic flights and charter services; it is closer to central Nairobi and may be used if you arrange a domestic transfer, but most international arrivals use NBO.
Train: Kenya’s Nairobi-Nanyuki standard gauge railway and Nairobi commuter services do not directly serve Limuru. Rail is not a practical option for Limuru.
Matatu / bus: Matatus (shared minibuses) and scheduled buses run from Nairobi (termini such as Muthurwa or Kariokor markets) to Limuru and neighbouring towns. Travel times vary with congestion-allow extra time during peak hours.
How to Get Around Limuru #
Limuru is about a half-hour drive from Nairobi and well served by matatus (shared minibuses) and private minibuses. Within town you’ll find boda-bodas (motorcycle taxis) and tuk-tuks for short trips; the centre is walkable for brief errands.
